Traditional Swedish Rag Rugs

Welcome to The Northern House. We sell beautiful, vintage and antique Swedish rag rugs. The rugs, sourced from rural Sweden, come in a variety of patterns and colourways. No two rugs are the same, each rug is unique. Woven on traditional floor looms, the rugs are highly sought after and increasingly rare and are a product of the world famous design traditions of Scandinavia.

The Northern House also sells modern Scandinavian rugs. These rugs are available in a palette of fresh stripes and typical Gustavian pale blue and grey. The modern rugs are a continuation of the tradition of rug weaving in Scandinavia. Although using modern dyes a number of the patterns are based on century’s old design tradition.

If you are looking for something specific, a particular size or preferred colourway then please do not hesitate to contact us as we are able to source a wide variety of rugs.

The rugs that we sell were created for both everyday use and for special occasions. They are to be loved, admired and trodden on!

We hope you will enjoy looking at our website.
