A very elegant looking rug, woven in the 1930's from the Smaland region of Sweden. The rug combines the 'tuskaft' (plain weave) and 'rosengang' (rosepath) weaving techniques. The rug is in very good condition and is a fine example of a rug from this period.

Woven in the 1950's in rural Sweden. Weaving technique 'tuskaft' (flat/plain weave). The rug is woven using many different pieces of cloth. The warp is made up of a number of different colours (this is unusual as it was common in the 1950's for the warp to be in one colour only). In this rug the warp thread is white and every second grey. This gives the rug its special pattern. A well woven rug.

A very classical Swedish 'trasmatta' rug. Woven in Smaland, Sweden in the 1940's from small strips of cloth. Contains many shades of blue as blue was the colour of Swedish work clothes and work clothes that were too old to be used any longer were usually cut into strips and woven into rugs. Cutting cloth into strips for weaving was often childrens' work. In this rug the weaver has woven small strips of bright red into the rug. Weaving technique 'tuskaft' (plain weave).

A beautiful rug woven in Asa, Sweden in the 1950's. Woven using the weaving technique 'rosengang' (rosepath), which makes for a thicker rug with a wavy pattern. Post-war, weavers started using more colourful fabrics and creating thicker rugs, using a variety of textiles that had previously not been available. In very good condition.

Weaving technique 'rips'. This rug would be suitable for a hall, landing, bathroom or bedroom and, depending on the floor surface, may require a thin underlay to prevent movement. A beautiful rug.
